Barcelona is, no doubt, one of the most attractive cities in Spain with a wide cultural and leisure offer. It is exceptionally located: bathed by the sea and well communicated with the rest of European countries.
Moreover, its Mediterranean climate offers mild winters and warm summers, which make it even more attractive. It is a modern, cosmopolitan city that has preserved its historical heritage shaped through many centuries. Its geographical location, as a strategic point in Europe, together with the open character of its people explains why Barcelona experiences a continuous cultural enrichment.

Museum of contemporary art (MACBA) Gothic area

You can feel a bohemian atmosphere in the historic centre of Barcelona. Walking along the Gothic Area, the Rivera or the Raval, you will discover one of the best preserved medieval quarters in the world. It is masterworks like the Sagrada Familia or La Pedrera what gives you a good reason to admire Barcelona. These are real architectonic wonders designed by our most international architect, Antoni Gaudí. Among the most interesting museums you can visit are: Picasso Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA), Fundació Joan Miró and National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC). Barcelona is a city oriented to the sea, which allows you to enjoy many open places like its beaches, the Port Olimpic, the Tibidabo or the Montjuïc Mountain. Overall, it is an ideal city to discover exceptional monuments and unexpected places.

During the day there is a possibility to go shopping. The most emblematic stores and boutiques can be found along Paseo de Gracia, Gran Via and Diagonal; some stores close at noon for about 3 hours, although shopping centres (e.g. El Corte Ingles, L’Illa Diagonal) are open all day long.

Gastronomy

As for the gastronomy, one can choose between a traditional restaurant and going to the places where a variety of “tapas” can be tried. Catalan gastronomy is based on the Mediterranean diet which suggests a broad range of natural products, olive oil, herbs, fruit, vegetables, seafood and meat. These products can be purchased at the markets, city live areas with a lot of social and commercial activity. Boquería Market located on the Rambla constitutes one of the most illustrative examples of this type of establishments..
